After retiring as professional dancers Darren & Lilia’s move into Creatives and Producers was a natural transition for them. Darren says;
“Over a season of any TV format you might be running 12 shows at once, each one at a different stage of development and production. You will be dealing with issues to do with show structure, music planning, costume, graphics, staging and choreography. Every one of them is equally important when it comes to bringing a performance to life.” – Darren
As a Creative Director Darren really loves the process of creating a visual narrative as well as putting together all the creative elements that go towards creating a performance piece.
Each performance should have its own distinct identity. One of the most important components to creating TV content is discipline, to follow through on ideas and be clear on the message. You need to bring your creative team with you on the journey and then bring your vision to life.

The Perfect Routine
Choreography
Once you have the creative idea it’s time to add the choreography and tell the story through dance. It’s so important that the audience are able to follow the narrative and be taken on an emotional journey through the whole piece. Each performance needs to have a beginning, middle and an end as it tells the story. If there is no resolution the audience can be left feel unsatisfied and will miss the emotive of what you have tried to create.
“As a Choreographer it isn’t just about the steps you create, it’s about taking your audience with you. It’s about them feeling the emotion, drama and passion of what you have created. Storytelling should use all genres and styles of dance available to a choreographer from ballet to ballroom from Latin to jazz and from street commercial to contemporary. Each style can be used to tell the story that you want your audience to see.” – Lilia
They have worked across all styles of choreography and creative from stage to screen, music promos, fitness choreography and West End shows. Using the insight gained on Strictly Come Dancing they never fail to create workable TV and stage content.
